Fall is always a magical time. The leaves begin to turn, a chill blows on the wind, the smell of wood smoke wanders through the air. It's a time for going back to school, seeing your friends, drinking butterbeer in the Three Broomsticks... That's right. It's time for an evening of wizardry, wands, robes, and a cappella. We've got a show stuffed more full than a vault at Gringotts, and packed with more surprises than a boggart's trunk. Just don't read the reviews in the Daily Prophet. Oh, and "Fermotter"? It's a music pun. We'll tell you what it means, but you'll have to hang on for a while... Despite the event name, there won't be any Malört at the venue - it's BYOB, beer and wine only. But don't worry. Our sweet singing will leave a better taste in your mouth anyway. The Details
The Uptones work hard to prepare great music for you to listen to, but we also enjoy spending quiet time together. That's why we went to Backyard Axe Throwing League in Six Corners tonight to whip some axes around. It was a hard-fought tournament, but ultimately George emerged victorious. Thus satisfied that one of us can throw axes at a target more accurately than everyone else (except Scott, who runs this location of BATL), we repaired to Ysabel's restaurant down the street, where we sang karaoke, because singing was going to happen one way or another.
The Uptones had an incredible opportunity today — a small group of us got to visit Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and sing a set for the patients, parents, and caregivers eating lunch in their beautiful Crown Sky Garden. We sang a variety of our most kid-friendly songs, including our Disney medley, and just generally had a great time making some people smile. We thank Lurie Children's for the opportunity, and we look forward to going back soon!
